I really enjoyed this reading, it was very thought provoking and it takes a look at a lot of the things that we have decided to sweep under the rug as a society. It’s important to discuss the issues that were talked about in the reading and it is especially important to try and find solutions to these systemic problems. What’s extremely important to note in this reading is that most of these problems, and most of the design issues we are having isn’t because we aren’t smart enough to solve them, it’s the sad fact that we have chosen not to. Not only the designers but we, as a society need to change the way we see things or rather how we choose to see things. The real issue isn’t the technology, it’s the people behind the creators and designers. If we as a society create a world where everyone, every BODY, is seen as an equal to the next, we can achieve such significant change in the hierarchies of the societies around the world. So, when the designers are creating these designs, prototypes, and products, we should be evaluating whether they fit the needs of EVERYONE not only meeting the “Standard”. When something is not fit to satisfy the needs of all people, we should be questioning it, and trying to make it so that it IS satisfying everyone’s needs. How long are we going to adapt to these technologies when we are literally creating them and we have the power to design it in the way we see fit.
